Conservatoire & Music University Preparation
Applying to a leading conservatoire or music university requires much more than strong instrumental ability. Students need thoughtful repertoire planning, sustained artistic development, high-quality recordings, confident audition preparation, and a clear understanding of how to present their musical experience.
Since 2019, SIMA Classics Education has supported young musicians preparing applications to leading institutions in the United Kingdom. Our students have received offers from the Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Royal Northern College of Music, and the University of Cambridge.
Our preparation programme is designed for students who wish to pursue serious musical study at conservatoire or university level. Each student receives an individual plan based on their current level, intended course, chosen institutions, application timeline, and long-term artistic direction.
Our Approach
SIMA brings together specialist instrumental tuition, artistic mentorship, audition coaching, and application guidance. We work with each student over time to ensure that their musical development and application materials reflect genuine artistic growth rather than last-minute preparation.
Our aim is not simply to prepare an application. We help students develop the technical command, musical maturity, performance confidence, and artistic independence needed to thrive in a demanding conservatoire environment.
Programme Support
Artistic Assessment and Individual Planning
We assess the student’s current performance level, repertoire, technical foundations, musical strengths, and areas for development. Based on this assessment, we create a realistic preparation plan aligned with the student’s target institutions and application timeline.
Audition and Recording Repertoire
We help students select, prepare, and refine repertoire for live auditions and pre-screening recordings. Repertoire choices are considered carefully in relation to institutional requirements, stylistic range, technical readiness, and the student’s individual artistic voice.
Recording Preparation
We provide guidance on recording repertoire, performance readiness, programme order, venue and acoustic considerations, and the overall presentation of submitted materials.
Audition and Interview Coaching
Students receive focused coaching for live auditions, online auditions, interviews, and written or oral discussions of their musical interests. Mock auditions help students develop composure, clarity, and confidence under performance pressure.
Application Materials
We support the preparation of music CVs or résumés, personal statements, repertoire lists, artistic biographies, and other application materials. The focus is on presenting a coherent and authentic account of the student’s musical development and future direction.
References and English Requirements
We advise students on selecting suitable referees, organising supporting materials for recommendation letters, and understanding English-language requirements where these apply.
